A bot is a wasteof.money account that makes use of the wasteof.money API to create and interact with posts, comments, and chat messages. Running on various programming languages including JavaScript and Python, bots can respond to mentions and create content as if they were a regular user. They are permitted on the site, so long as they abide by the rules outlined in this post.
History
This section needs expanding.
The first potential wasteof2 bot may be @autof4f , created on 9 August 2021. It was a bot that followed people when they followed it.[citation needed] Its origin is unknown, and it is unlikely that the account was automated.[citation needed]
The first confirmed wasteof2 bot is @pico-bot , created on 4 November 2021. It is a bot that retrieves statistics from Scratch users and projects. It was created by @wasteof_time , and is no longer active.
Bot jams
This section needs expanding.
At least one bot-making competition has been held on wasteof.money, the first being hosted by @radi8. The winner and many participants received a virtual currency known as "wombucks," which is managed through the @wombucks bot account.
Types of bots
Bots on wasteof.money can often fall into one of two categories. A majority[citation needed] of bots are scheduled posters, creating randomly selected posts from an API or other database. These bots can range in posting trivia, jokes, and even AI-generated posts, though the last item is not allowed on wasteof.money.[1]
Other bots are classified as interactive bots. These bots are able to be activated by users, most commonly by mentioning their username, and each bot frequently has a suite of commands which do various tasks. Examples of these tasks includes retrieving user statistics, playing games, rolling dice, or interacting with their @wombucks bank accounts.
While these are the two main categories, it is possible that there are bots which do not fall into either.
Well-known bots
This section needs expanding and fact checking.
@showerthoughtsbot is a bot that creates daily posts, each containing a "shower thought," an interesting bit of thought-provoking and usually funny information.

These uses include activity graphs, (which are limited by imgbb) jokes, entertainment, stats, downloading profile pictures and banners, and displaying the most recent posts. You can activate commands by going to the wall. The prefix for this bot is "wob". (prefix only works on wall, and in chat, to use the bot other places, ping instead of using the prefix.)
