It describes itself as a "next-gen" simple social media which focuses on user interaction, self-expression, and communication free from big corporations[2]. The current version, named wasteof2, was officially released on June 12, 2021.

wasteof.money legacy (sometimes called wasteof1) was the pre-release version of wasteof.money. It used EJS to render pages. In this version there were no common features such as reposting.
