wasteof.money legacy, (sometimes called wasteof1, was the pre-release version of wasteof.money. It used EJS to render pages. In this version, many later features were missing, such as reposting. Development on wasteof.money first started on November 16th, 2020. It was first publicly tested on November 30th, 2020, and was only up for a short time.

Because wasteof.money legacy was 100% open source, its source code can be found on GitHub.[2]

wasteof3 is the latest non-stable version of wasteof. It is built with SvelteKit and is intended to have a "codey, monospace" aesthetic[3]. The beta of wasteof3 is located at beta.wasteof.money. Originally, you had to be invited to the beta of wasteof3 with a special key. The beta is now public, though you need an approved beta account to login.[4]

Theming

wasteof3 has the ability to choose your accent color. It applies to any page besides a user page that is not yours. You can set it on your profile or via settings. The default color and color for non-wasteof3 users is indigo. The font used is Space Grotesk.[5] On pride month, the navigation bar appears fading to each color of the rainbow, then transitioning to the regular theme color.
